Alan Gavin Green Award Committee member


Alan Gavin represents the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) in the Green Award Committee since May 9th, 2008.


Alan Gavin is Marine Director of Lloyd's Register (LR), responsible for Lloyd's Register's global marine commercial and technical policy. He has previously headed Lloyd's Register's global Research and Development, and Classification Services, responsible for new and existing ship hull classification and statutory certification, both in the UK and the regional approval centres world-wide.

Mr. Gavin was Chairman of IACS in 2002, and now is the LR representative of the IACS Council. He has been a ship surveyor with Lloyd's Register of Shipping for 34 years, serving in the UK and Japan. He has presented many papers on classification and marine industry subjects. He is a graduate of Strathclyde University, a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects, and a chartered engineer.
