JAN FRANSEN TAKES OVER THE HELM AT GREEN AWARD FOUNDATION

The Green Award Committee has appointed Mr. J.A.A.J. (Jan) Fransen as Managing Director, as of 1st April 2005. Jan Fransen has taken over the helm from Mr. J.L. (Hans) de Goeij, who was Managing Director for the past 7 years.

The Green Award Committee has approved the request from Hans de Goeij to step down as Managing Director after a period of 7 years at the helm of the Bureau. Mr. De Goeij will remain connected to Green Award as Advisor to the Board.

Jan Fransen, 47, was involved with the set-up of the Green Award scheme in the early nineties. He served the Foundation as Certification Manager and from 2001 took on the position of Deputy Managing Director. His previous positions have included Nautical Officer and several positions at the Dutch Ministry of Transport and the Port of Rotterdam.

In a statement Jan Fransen remarked: ‘The challenge of the Green Award’s second decade offers a great opportunity to build on the Green Award achievements up until now. We will continue to follow our passage plan which has been set and will add some new way points. One of our goals is to establish partnerships with other organizations in order to harmonize and minimize the number of inspections on board the vessels. And most of all: to continue to promote quality shipping."
