Inland Shipping: almost 300 inland barges certified

The inland shipping certification programme continues to attract new participants, and by now, the number of inland navigation barges with the Green Award certificate has almost reached 300.

A Green Award certificate can be obtained by inland navigation vessels that meet the Green Award requirements which include items related to the technical equipment on board and to the crew. Just as the fleet at sea, inland navigation barges have to meet the high standards of safety and sustainability.

Currently 295 ships hold the Green Award certificate and can enjoy incentives provided by

6 banks (reimbursement of the certification costs):
      - ABN AMRO Bank                 50%
      - Rabobank Altena                 50%
      - Rabobank Krimpenerwaard  50% 
      - Rabobank Merwestroom       50%
      - Rabobank Oosterschelde      50%
      - Rabobank Shipping              50%

6 ports (discount on the port dues):
      - Municipality of Meppel                 6%
      - Groningen Seaports–Eemshaven 5%
      - Groningen Seaports–Delfzijl        5% 
      - Rotterdam Port Authority          15%
      - Port of Moerdijk                       15%
      - Port of Dordrecht                     15%
