Port of Werkendam is a new incentive provider for inland ships

Green Award has welcomed yet another inland port. The Port of Werkendam (the Netherlands) provides a discount of 15% on the harbour dues to Green Award certified inland barges effective of the 1st of April, 2016.

On the 11th of April, 2016, alderman of Werkendam Wim de Jong has received the Green Award plaque officially confirming the port's entrance into the scheme.

We are very glad that the network of Green Award ports keeps expanding. Our certification program for inland navigation ships has been running since 2011. Currently 572 inland barges hold the Green Award certificate. 18 ports, 4 banks and 1 insurance company provide incentives to Green Award certified inland vessels.
Green Award also has been selected by the European Investment Bank and Rabobank as one of the quality marks indicating that a business is eligible for a discount on the interest rate of an impact loan.
