Magsaysay Maritime Corporation joins the network of Green Award incentive providers

An official ceremony was held at Times Plaza Building, Manila to celebrate the launch of cooperation between the Green Award Foundation and Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC). MMC officially joins the network of Green Award incentive providers, offering a 3% discount on its monthly manning fee per vessel for Green Award certificate holders and becoming the first manning company to be recognized by the foundation.

MMC is one of the world’s trusted human resource companies and one of the largest providers of skilled manpower and human resource solutions for the global shipping and cruise industries.

Green Award certificate holders are ships and shipping companies that demonstrate excellent performance and care for the People and the Planet, while aiming at responsible and sustainable profit making. The Green Award scheme, run by the eponymous foundation, is an international independent organization that audits ships and ship managers according to its own requirements developed by a skilled team of researchers under guidance and supervision of the major industry’s stakeholders and decision makers. Only ships with proven top-notch performance can obtain a Green Award certificate. To motivate and support such vessels, ports and maritime service companies provide incentives to them through the Green Award scheme. MMC is going to strengthen the network of Green Award incentive providers.

“Human element is of great significance. Thanks to highly respected companies like Magsaysay, well-educated and trained professionals are available. Magsaysay prepares future seafarers for their vital role on board, carefully teaching them how to address environmental issues and perform safe operations. This way Magsaysay helps to enhance overall quality of shipping and reduce negative effects on the environment.

In the recent years new technologies and management have radically changed the life on board, making qualified personnel the number one requirement for success,” said Green Award’s Executive Director Jan Fransen. “That precious element is within Magsaysay’s area of expertise and they have built a great reputation providing highly reliable services.”

“As one of the leading companies whose businesses heavily involve shipping, we understand that we have a clear responsibility to protect the ocean and ensure the sustainability of our planet for future generations. It is our mission to produce competent leaders with the right attitude, making safety and the protection of the environment a top priority,” said Marlon R. Roño.
