Green Award certifies ships that are extra clean and extra safe. A large number of ports, maritime service providers and suppliers recognize the value of Green Award worldwide. They offer special rates and other advantages to Green Award vessels. The Green Award certificate confirms the high quality of the vessel and it contributes to a positive image of the ship owner with all the advantages this entails.

 


The small, informal Rotterdam-based office of the Green Award Foundation is looking for a

                               RESEARCH OFFICER (1 FTE)

The successful applicant holds preferably a relevant Bachelor/Master’s degree or has relevant experience. Five years of seafaring experience complemented by knowledge of ship management will be an advantage.

He/she will speak and write the English language fluently and will be

• Quality minded, curious, accurate
• Able to work as part of a team and also independently
• Able to distinguish major from minor issues
• Able to plan own workload and keep accurate records
• Having a practical approach with research skills
• Process orientated but also able to think ‘out of the box’
• Having good communication skills to allow accurate information to be exchanged
• Competent in MS Office and internet applications

Job elements for the Research Officer:
• Working closely with the Certification Officer as well as the Ship Surveyors to research ideas for Green Award requirements, such as safety, pollution prevention, energy efficiency, fatigue management and cyber security.
• Collection and feasible implementation of data from internal and external sources
• Assisting with the preparation of new Green Award requirements
• The work will involve team-working with team members, report writing and liaison with external stakeholders.
