Pre announcement: new incentive provider the Port Sept-Iles, Quebec, Canada

The Port Sept-Iles, Quebec, Canada has confirmed their intentions to give a 10% discount on harbor dues only to all GA certified vessels effective from 01-01-2012.

The Port of Sept-Îles is the most important ore handling port in Canada. The Port is comprised of 13 docks, 8 of which belong to it. Each year, nearly 23 million tons of merchandise is handled, comprised mainly of iron ore, alumina, aluminum, petroleum coke, limestone and other merchandise also transit through the port, as well as more than 400,000 tons of petroleum products.

The Port of Sept-Îles has always had the environment at heart. Its environmental policy focuses on five elements: environmental compliance, environmental protection, sustainable development, environmental management and communication.


The Green Award scheme is a great tool to assist in achieving positive results in the above mentioned areas and the port has announced its decision to join the net of Green Award incentive providers. The Port Sept-Iles will provide a 10% rebate on harbor dues only to vessels of any type holding the Green Award certificate.
