On 9 December, RSR Shipping joined forces with Green Award as their first port related Incentive Provider on German waterways for inland shipping. With this partnership, the Swiss docking spot supplier wants to enforce Green Award in its mission to stimulate a green and safe future for inland shipping.

As a young and dynamic player, RSR Shipping highly values sustainable initiatives and innovations to shape the future of their business. After starting the procedure to install land power for most of their docking spots, they take their ambitions a step further. From now on, they will be stimulating ships to become greener by granting ‘Green Awarded’ river cruise vessels a discount on the docking fee. The discount is applied to all RSR Shipping’s docking spots which are respectively located in Düsseldorf, Traben-Trarbach, Oestrich-Winkel, Forchheim, Volkach and Straubing.
The higher the effort, the bigger the reward
Green Award is a quality mark for ships that demonstrate high safety and environmental standards. After being established in 1994 to promote quality shipping amongst sea-going vessels, the foundation extended its activities to a certification program for inland shipping in 2011. Since that date, more and more ships have received a certification by reaching strict standards for engines, technical equipment on board and the crew. Depending on their score, ships receive a bronze, silver, or gold certificate. For zero emission, platinum label can be awarded. RSR Shipping uses the level of certification to grant a discount on mooring fees between 5% and 15%.

A greener future starts today

The discounts on mooring spots of RSR Shipping will be applicable for all bookings with a reservation date beyond the start of 2021. The discount will be deducted from the invoice immediately for certified ships after indicating their obtained certification level.
