We are excited to announce that Green Award now has a presence in Mumbai, India. As more shipping companies in India, Asia and around the Middle East recognize the importance of going above and beyond in safe and clean shipping, Green Award has strategically established a base in Mumbai.
India boasts a significant maritime sector, with 12 Major Ports and over 200 Non-Major Ports along its extensive 7,500 km coastline. The country’s maritime industry is vital to its trade and growth, handling 95% of its trade volume and 65% of its trade value through maritime transport.
This move is aimed at deepening our foothold in India. At the moment, we have one certified shipping company in India—Synergy Maritime and their certified ships include Blue Butterfly, an oil/chemical tanker, Cap San Maleas, a container carrier and Trammo Paris, an LPG carrier. Synergy Maritime is a frontrunner in promoting safe and clean shipping in India. With over 24,000 seafarers globally, 682 vessels under management, and 30 offices worldwide, Synergy Maritime exemplifies leadership in safe and sustainable shipping practices. We can’t wait to welcome more new certificate holders.
In addition to our certified companies, we also have an incentive provider in India who has been with us for more than ten years – Karco, a digital maritime training partner. Karco pioneered the use of 3D animation for creating safety and operation videos for the marine industry, effectively conveying complex training concepts. They offer Green Award-certified shipping companies special discounts and access to their extensive library of 3D animated training videos, covering a wide range of topics including shipboard operations, accidents/incidents, OCIMF SIRE, personal safety, and ship-specific videos.
With our expanded presence in Mumbai, Green Award is positioned to further support and promote safe and sustainable shipping practices in India and its surrounding regions.
