“As we reflect on 2024, I am proud to highlight our collective achievements in advancing sustainable maritime practices,” said Jan Fransen, Executive Director of the Green Award Foundation.
Innovative Technologies
“The Chemical Challenger became the first vessel to receive our GHG Label for CO₂ reduction through wind-assisted propulsion. We also certified our first LNG dual-fuel powered very large crude carrier (VLCC), Antonis I. Angelicoussis, setting a new standard for environmental innovation,” Jan shared.
Strategic Partnerships
“We welcomed industry leaders such as Black Rope, enhancing safe and sustainable mooring solutions; SQLearn, offering advanced online training for maritime professionals; ENTER Consulting & IT Services, specializing in digital transformation for sustainability; Aqua Marine Electronics, providing cutting-edge marine electronic equipment; and ONEX Shipyards, with over 160 years of shipbuilding expertise. These partnerships strengthen our ability to drive impactful change across the maritime sector,” Jan continued.
Global Expansion
“Our network expanded with the addition of eight Japanese ports, broadening our reach and impact in promoting responsible shipping worldwide. We also marked a significant milestone with our first ship survey in Mumbai, India, deepening our commitment to sustainable shipping practices in new regions,” said Jan.
Regulatory Compliance Support
“Ports like Rotterdam and Amsterdam adopted our Ship Waste module, helping them comply with new EU environmental regulations and reinforcing our role in promoting sustainable port operations,” Jan noted.
“These milestones and more reflect our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, safety, and excellence in the maritime industry. I extend my deepest gratitude to our partners, certificate holders, and the entire Green Award team for their dedication and collaboration. Looking ahead, we remain steadfast in our mission to drive positive change and set higher standards for a sustainable future in shipping. Wishing you all a prosperous and green 2025,” Jan concluded.
