Introducing Our New Board of Experts Members: Darron L. Biddle and Samuel Twitchin

We’re thrilled to welcome two fantastic new members to our Board of Experts (BoE): Darron L. Biddle and Samuel Twitchin. With their vast expertise in advocacy, maritime safety, and risk management, both will play a key role in guiding the development of Green Award’s certification requirements and shaping the future of sustainability in the industry.

Darron L. Biddle: Leading Maritime Advocacy and Quality Assurance 

Darron L. Biddle is the Publications and Advocacy Director at the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF). In this role, he represents OCIMF at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and oversees technical content across various industry committees. Darron has over 25 years of experience in marine quality assurance, project management, and commercial operations, having worked for ExxonMobil and SeaRiver Maritime. His expertise spans marine operations and environmental matters, with a focus on improving safety and operational standards across the global maritime industry. 

His leadership will be invaluable in helping shape Green Award’s strategies for safety standards, operational excellence, and environmental sustainability.

 

Samuel Twitchin: Enhancing Maritime Safety and Risk Management

Samuel Twitchin is a Risk Assessor at the UK P&I Club, where he focuses on onboard safety assessments and improvements for maritime operations. Samuel has over 23 years of seagoing experience and is also involved in the Safetytech Accelerator’s Cargo Fire and Loss Innovation Initiative (CFLII), working on new technologies to improve safety in the maritime industry. Before joining the UK P&I Club, Samuel was a Senior Marine Surveyor with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), conducting inspections and audits across the sector. 

Samuel’s practical experience as a Deputy Captain and his extensive work on safety and emergency procedures will provide valuable insights to the Green Award Board, especially in maritime risk management and certification surveys.

 

Darron and Samuel’s combined experience and expertise will be pivotal in guiding the Green Award Committee on crucial aspects. We’re excited to have Darron and Samuel on board and look forward to the innovative contributions they’ll bring to Green Award.
