Altena municipality considers sustainability of great importance. In order to stimulate for quality, safety and environmental friendly performance within the inland shipping sector, since 2016 the municipality introduced a reduction on the port tariff for inland ships that are Green Award certified. As per 1st January 2021 this port tariff reduction has been raised and differentiated up to a maximum of 30% for ships with a Green Award Platinum label.
