Green Award for Inland Shipping celebrates 10 years!

10/11/2021

Together with inland waterway entrepreneurs, ports, suppliers and service providers, we have been working for a decade on the recognition and stimulation of sustainable and safe inland waterway transport. A good reason to award certificate number 910 with a special touch!

Green Award for Inland Shipping is growing constantly: in numbers of ships, ship types and incentive providers. In the past month, we welcomed up to 3 new incentive providers and (re)certified 36 inland vessels.
And… We are going full speed ahead: on to the 1,000 ships!

Special certificate for special ship

VVD Member of the European Parliament Caroline Nagtegaal-Van Doorn (left) recently presented a special Green Award certificate to a special ship: the mts ‘Lynsey’. This year, the Green Award for inland shipping is celebrating its 10th anniversary and the mts Lynsey is the 910th ship to be awarded a Green Award for inland shipping certificate. The tanker is the first newly built ship with Stage V engines and has achieved the certification level ‘gold’.

Mts ‘Lynsey’ is chartered by co-owner Burando Barging and is named after Lynsey Carlin, a lady with whom Burando worked. She lost the battle against breast cancer at the age of 39. In the context of this background and because October was breast cancer month, Burando and Green Award have decided to make a donation of € 2,000 to Pink Ribbon on the occasion of the certification.
