18 December 2025 – The Green Award Foundation held its 71st Board meeting in Amsterdam, bringing together Board members representing the international maritime industry, across both public and private sectors. The meeting focused on governance, strategic oversight, and key decisions supporting the Foundation’s continued development.
During the meeting, the Board reviewed the Foundation’s financial outlook, including the estimated results for 2025 and the proposed plans for 2026. The Board also addressed regular organizational matters in line with its governance responsibilities.
A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to proposals submitted by the Green Award Board of Experts following their 58th meeting. These proposals covered updates to Green Award programme requirements, including topics such as safety aspects, alternative fuels, and crew wellbeing. The Board reviewed and decided on relevant updates for both seagoing and inland shipping, reinforcing the Foundation’s commitment to safety, sustainability, and certification integrity.

The Board also discussed matters related to Board composition and expertise, including nominations and re-appointments within the Board of Experts, ensuring continued broad representation and technical knowledge across maritime sectors.
The 71st Board meeting reaffirmed the Board’s role in supporting Green Award’s mission, enabling the Foundation to continue promoting safer and more sustainable shipping worldwide.
