Equasis celebrates 25-year anniversary in Paris

Green Award joins the international maritime community in celebrating 25 years of Equasis

Paris, 6 June 2025Green Award Foundation was present at the 25th anniversary celebration of the Equasis website, held on 5-6 June in Paris. The event gathered over 50 representatives from the Equasis community, including data providers, users, and contributing States.

Equasis, launched in 2000, has become a vital tool in promoting maritime safety and transparency by providing free public access to reliable information on ships and companies. The anniversary meeting focused on shaping the platform’s strategic roadmap for the next five years while reaffirming its core values: transparency, accessibility, and data reliability.

Green Award’s Executive Director, Jan Fransen, who also serves as Chairman of the Equasis Editorial Board, contributed to the discussions and emphasized the shared values between both organizations. He stated:

Equasis has made maritime data more accessible and trustworthy, supporting safer seas, which ultimately protects the marine environment and the logistic chain. This complements our mission at Green Award: to promote excellence and responsibility in shipping.
